With the drilling of one well (6-BR-63A-RJS) Petrobras (Bovespa: PETR3/PETR4, NYSE: PBR / PBRA, Latibex: XPBR / XPBRA, BCBA: APBR / APBRA) has discovered two new oil reserves in reservoirs located in the Campos Basin, a post-salt and other pre-salt.
The exploratory well was drilled in the concession area of production of Barracuda, about 100 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, in waters where the depth is 860 meters. Petrobras already has the structure of production and disposal installed in the area.
One of the accumulations was discovered in carbonate reservoirs of the pre-salt (subsalt) and is located at 4340 meters deep. Preliminary estimates indicate the presence of light oil (28 º API), with recoverable volumes of approximately 40 million barrels, in reservoirs with good productivity, confirmed by tests.
The other discovery, also in well 6-BR-63A-RJS, was an accumulation of oil in sandstone reservoirs of the post-salt, which has a history of production in the area of Barracuda. It is estimated that the volume of recoverable oil accumulation that is 25 million barrels.
Taking advantage of the complete infrastructure for production and distribution already installed in the area, the Company is studying the possibility of linking the well 6-BR-63A-RJS to the P-43, which already operates in the field of Barracuda. The findings will be subject to evaluation plan to be submitted shortly to the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
